Millions of Australians will ring in the New Year with spectacular fireworks displays across the country.

More than a million people are expected to gather across the city to watch the action. The $6.3m display will go ahead after the New South Wales government and rail unions reached an agreement and there will be no new action affecting train services on NYE. On Tuesday night a smoking ceremony will begin at 7.30pm, followed by a welcome to country at 8.30pm. Pylon projections will then light up the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The 9pm fireworks will be followed by a light display across the harbour, before the main event: the midnight fireworks.Melbourne NYE fireworksthe best view is from afar, with people encouraged to enjoy the fireworks show from anywhere they can see the skyline. The city will also host four official “celebration zones” from 6pm to 1am, with food trucks, performances and activities for the whole family. These are at Docklands, the Shrine, Flagstaff Gardens and Treasury Gardens.Held at South Bank Parklands, Brisbane’s fireworks show will feature a 7.45pm display and midnight show.
