"It's a significant thing that's been brought to our attention and we're going to fix it – it's obviously been there … for some time and predates us coming into office." "It's important that it's been brought to our attention, it is prudent we do the assessment and act on it," he told 9News. Paterson issued questions to every federal agency after the Home Affairs Department was unable to say how many of the cameras or related systems were in federal government buildings.
The audit showed the Attorney-General's Department had 195 of the camera systems installed at 29 sites.
