An Adelaide mother who says her daughter should never have been discharged from hospital after falling from a wheelchair and breaking her femur has urged for greater flexibility for patients with complex needs.

"She was really struggling to manage her airway and we were just at a loss at what to do," Leanne said."She requires a hospital bed and adequate treatment now," she wrote.Leanne said she was reluctant to take her daughter back to Flinders on New Year's Eve because of the high level of demand on the system, and the risk of COVID.
SA Health Minister Chris Picton says he will discuss the matters raised by Amy's case directly with Leanne. SA Health Minister Chris Picton was among those to respond to Leanne on social media, offering to "keep in contact this week if there are further ongoing concerns about your daughter's care".
