The veteran Harry Potter actor is showing no signs of slowing down at 82.

Margolyes is one of those personalities who seem to have been around for ever, on stage, television and film, doing voiceovers, appearing on chat shows and, more recently, writing books. “When I was young, I was embarrassed,” she says. “But, for example, yesterday I went to see Jill Margo. And I pissed on her sofa. Well, I didn’t piss. I didn’t get to the loo in time, so I had wet knickers. And so when I sat on her sofa, when I got up, there was a little sort of damp patch, and I thought, am I embarrassed? I thought, no, I’m not. I’m sorry, but I’m not embarrassed. So I just said, ‘Jill, I pissed on your sofa.
’Two people in my life that I really care about … said, ‘you have spoken against Israel and you can’t do that’. I think you can.”Her stance on the Arab/Israeli conflict has come at a personal cost, which she describes as “huge and vicious”.“It’s terribly upsetting because two friends of mine - very close friends - are not able to speak to me any more. I find it agonising that I’ve lost two people in my life that I really care about. But they can’t bear it.
