A media academic has been fact-checked by Twitter, now X, after using an outdated poll to suggest Opposition Leader Peter Dutton's support for the No campaign in the Voice referendum harmed his popularity.

An academic who campaigns against so-called misinformation has been fact-checked over a post which used outdated polling to suggest Peter Dutton's Voice campaign efforts harmed his public support.

Picture: Supplied The latest NewsPoll, published in The Australian within an hour of Ms Fielding's post, showed the gap between the Opposition Leader and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was actually far narrower.

Dissatisfaction with Labor's approach to tackling the cost of living and mounting community tension over the Israel-Hamas conflict have also harmed the government's standing with voters, handing the Coalition a 37 to 35 per cent lead in the primary vote.
