Sewing: Miss Chinatown Houston pageant celebrates the beauty of Chinese culture

Courtesy of Cookie JoeJoe went on to place second nationally and today at age 70 is the oldest living Miss Chinatown Houston.

Pageant director Kitty So, who competed in 1999, said she's watched the contestants grow during their training. “When I was growing up, I always attended the Miss Chinatown pageant. I knew one day I would do it, too. It teaches you so much about family associations and the importance of being connected to family. It was such a great period of growth for me,” she said.
