Carla Stent, chair at Savernake Capital Limited, suggests that it is a new space for many women and that takes confidence, because, unlike in a standard pension or investment fund, once funds are invested they are committed: “We feel we have to have all the information and answers. Perhaps you’ve never looked at a business before and you don’t understand the entrepreneurial space. You’re not sure how long your money will be tied up; that can be challenging.
36% of women said perceived complexity and a lack of knowledge or trust in the finance industry was a key reason not to engage.
