A bushwalker in his 20s has been missing in Kosciuszko National Park since Boxing Day afternoon. A multi-agency search has resumed for a bushwalker missing for five days in the Kosciuszko National Park. Friends of the 23-year-old altered authorities to his disappearance after he failed to meet them at a campground last Thursday. Search efforts, including NSW Police, SES, National Parks and a helicopter are continuing.

A multi-agency search effort to locate a man missing in the 'difficult terrain' of the Kosciuszko National Park since Boxing Day, has entered its fifth day. Friends of the missing 23-year-old alerted authorities last Thursday evening that he had failed to arrive at a remote campground the group had planned to meet at. The missing bushwalker was last seen by friends about 2:30pm on Thursday December 26, walking a trail at Geehi — between Khancoban and Thredbo. Two of the man's friends — also aged in their 20s — started looking for him later that afternoon when he failed to arrive at the Geehi campground, and later contacted NSW Police. Riverina Police District Inspector Josh Broadfoot said authorities were considering all possibilities, but the terrain of Kosciuszko National Park is challenging to search. 'It's such a big national park. It's such a huge area, so vast, and it's obviously difficult terrain on the track,' Inspector Broadfoot said. The multi-agency search has continued across the weekend, including Police Rescue, National Parks and Wildlife Service, SES, and a helicopter with infra-red capabilities. Meanwhile, SES Superintendent Matthew Price said specialist Alpine crews had been sent out to search the 'arduous area'. 'We've been sending our fittest members and had between 15 and 25 members a day out in that environment searching,' Superintendent Matthew Price said.
