Missing National City woman found dead; no foul play suspected, police say [Breaking]
A 77-year-old woman diagnosed with Alzheimer’s was found dead along a National City road Sunday morning, almost 24 hours after she walked away from her home and went missing, police said.The woman left her home on Harding Avenue near 19th Street, just east of Interstate 5, about 11:10 a.m. Saturday. The woman, who also was diagnosed with throat and mouth cancer, walked away without money or identification, police said.
Police, a sheriff’s search-and-rescue team and family members looked for her. Police also asked the public to be on the lookout. Around 9 a.m. Sunday, family members assisting in the search found her dead, lying face down, in some brush along Harbor Drive near Civic Center Drive, an industrial area just west of I-5 and almost a mile away from her home, police said.
