Three drivers are expected to lose their licences after being caught by South Australia's new mobile phone detection cameras at least five times each in a single week, with 2,500 fines issued after a grace period ended.

SA Police said it also issued more than 2,500 fines to drivers detected by the cameras during the first seven daysIn three of the worst cases, two drivers were caught six times by the detection cameras, while another was spotted five times, police said. Over the first week of the expiation period, SA Police issued 2,544 fines to drivers caught by the mobile phone detection cameras.One driver was previously detected with no hands on the steering wheel while using a mobile phone.Police were pleased that the percentage of drivers detected using their phones had gone down since the grace period ended, decreasing from 0.37 per cent to 0.24 per cent after September 19.
While 2,544 fines were handed out, police revealed 2,604 detections were made in the first week of the expiation period.
