Liverpool beat Ipswich Town on the opening day but it was a historic day, in more ways than one, for striker Ali Al-Hamadi
Ipswich Town suffered disappointment on their Premier League return as Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners at Portman Road. But Tractor Boys striker Ali Al-Hamadi saw his dreams come true despite the losing start in the Suffolk club's first top-flight encounter for 22 years. Not only that, it was a record-breaking day for the 22-year-old as he became the first-ever player from Iraq to play in the Premier League.
The Iraqi striker was shown penning a message on the whiteboard as the camera pans around to show the Liverpool-decorated facility that Jurgen Klopp , Salah and co. had utilised after their penalty shootout triumph, some seven days earlier. 'That's typical of Ali,' Woodman continues. 'He had that cheekiness about him but he would've loved the fact that Mo Salah probably seen him do that.
