abc.net.au/news/monika-mann-death-fiona-stanley-hospital/102600050The death of a Perth mother days after giving birth to twins in hospital should be subject to an independent, external review, a health advocate says. She was discharged six days post delivery, but returned with abdominal pain the next dayMonika Mann, 36, died on May 15, seven days after giving birth to a little girl and boy at Fiona Stanley Hospital, in Perth's south.
Health advocate Suresh Rajan, who helped bring about a major overhaul of the WA hospital system following the death of seven-year-old Aishwarya Aswath in 2021, says he has serious concerns about this case. Mr Rajan said Ms Mann's husband, Sandeep Mann, was caring for their newborns and six-year-old son while grieving his wife.Ms Mann had a series of previous health issues, including a mechanical valve in her heart and heart disease.
An internal review of her death, seen by the ABC, found Ms Mann's delivery, by caesarean, was "uncomplicated".
