WATSONVILLE — It could be a little while before Pajaro residents who evacuated during the floods can return to their homes. Various agencies are still monitoring the conditions of structures, water, roadways and more before the reentry and repopulation efforts can get underway.

Already, she said Cal Fire’s damage assessment teams conducted windshield surveys and produced a map for residents to have an understanding of the impacts to their structure upon reentry, Monterey County Building & Planning Services and Environmental Health is inspecting the structural integrity of dwellings, Public Works is cleaning and repairing roads to make sure they are safe to drive on once evacuation orders are lifted, and Pacific Gas & Electric has been restoring power lines and...
