EXCLUSIVE: MoonKnight & Layla's MCU future remains undecided, says Oscar Isaac 👀 '[I]n terms of actual, 'Okay, now in the next thing there's…' None of that has been talked about. This has really just been approached as this piece.'😯🤔

Star Oscar Isaac says Moon Knight and Layla's MCU futures haven't been decided yet. The acclaimed actor joined the long-running superhero franchise as the titular character in Moon Knight, the first of Marvel's Disney+ shows to center on a new addition to their roster of powered people. The series premiered on March 30 and has been dropping a new episode every Wednesday, with the finale due to release next week.

Moon Knight has been slowly familiarizing audiences with its complex protagonist, Marc Spector, whose dissociative identity disorder sees his body house at least one alternate identity in Steven Grant. Viewers initially followed Steven as the mild-mannered museum employee learned of Marc, a mercenary and the conduit of the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu, but later episodes have shared time between the two alters.

No. We talked about the journey of what it's leading to, and obviously what they hope can happen and that. So, there were a lot of conversations... But in terms of actual,"Okay, now in the next thing there's…" None of that has been talked about. This has really just been approached as this piece. While audiences might be somewhat skeptical that Feige & Co. don't have a larger MCU arc planned for their newest hero, this approach to Moon Knight mirrors that of other new projects. Unlike with their established characters, Marvel Studios can't be sure of how fans will respond to someone unfamiliar, and while they obviously plan for each headlining character to stick around, the filmmakers take a wait-and-see public stance around new releases.

Given that Moon Knight reviews have been positive, fans of the character can probably rest assured that Isaac's hero will play a role in the MCU's future, and Layla too, assuming she survives through the season finale. Just how they will integrate is unclear, however, since the show has arguably been the most standalone of Marvel's Disney+ projects and offers no easy path for Marc and Steven to make the leap to the big screen.
