Firefighters will face a tough battle to bring two bushfires, which have claimed two lives and destroyed more than a dozen homes in southern Queensland, under control.
Police confirmed the charred remains of a man were found on Tuesday, after an elderly woman went into cardiac arrest and died while protecting her home one day earlier.
Already tired and stressed emergency crews will face another long day on Thursday, with more than 40 bushfires burning across the Sunshine State. "Overnight we've had some storms come through and it saddens me to report that we've been absolutely peppered in the area with dry lightning that resulted in five new ignitions," he said on Sunrise, flagging they were"under control".Tragically, sixteen homes have been confirmed lost, but that number is likely to rise.
