Fallon brought up Walken's appearance on April 8, 2000, with Ferrell, at first making it seem like it was an off-the-cuff remark, but then producing a still from that night's most famous sketch. series that was popular at the time, showing what “really” happened when Long Island-based classic rockers Blue Öyster Cult recorded theThe sketch details how the song's prominent cowbell was the result of a percussion-mad producer played by Walken.
“During curtain calls they bring cowbells and ring them,” Ferrell said, in a Walken-esque speech pattern. Walken also alleged that waiters ask if he wants “more cowbell” with his pasta bolognese.
