Australia has pulled off a huge upset defeating the United States in a tight penalty shootout during a dramatic semi-final of the water polo overnight.

But Australia has been in fine form in the Paris pool and have won all their matches so far from the preliminary round right through to the semi-finals. “It was fast and I kind of preferred that, it’s a bit simpler and I can just focus on my racing gears and relax out there," Hull said after the race.
The race started with drama as judges stopped the race due to a false start, with Germany and Hungary seconds later pinged for jumping too early. But the Aussies were known for their final 250m, as they steadily moved from third up to second to challenge the Germans for the gold.
