Most anaqua trees reach about 30 feet, though some will hit 50 feet. Its dark green foliage blocks unwanted views and provides nesting and cover for birds.Some gardeners may question this choice, and it’s definitely on the taller side of medium. In their book “Texas Trees: A Friendly Guide,” Paul Cox and Patty Leslie write that anaquas eventually grow to 50 feet tall on some streambeds, but most reach about 30 feet.
It has a dense crown of attractive, dark green foliage that serves well to block unwanted sight lines, as a property border, and for nesting and cover for birds. It is listed as one of the shade tree species eligible for a CPS Energy rebate of $50. The white blooms of Mexican olive trees are spectacular choice for their production of white blooms, but the trees will succumb to freezing temperatures.These lovely trees were hit hard by the 2021 freeze, with many dying back to the ground. After a promising recovery, they froze back again in 2022. Most are now resprouting and will recover.
