Hurricane Ian could make another landfall on Friday as a tropical storm in South Carolina, forecasters said.
, at least one person has been confirmed dead in Deltona near Daytona Beach on Florida’s east coast after falling down an embankment into a canal.
As of Thursday morning Ian’s center has moved offshore of Florida’s east coast and into the southwestern Atlantic. Storm surge is still a concern with Ian. The hurricane center said 4 to 7 feet of surge will be possible along the South Carolina coast.Tropical storm winds will also be possible on the east and west coasts of Florida and are expected to spread along the Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina through Friday. Hurricane conditions will be possible within the hurricane watch area through Friday.
Widespread flooding will also be possible across portions of northeast Florida, southeastern Georgia, and eastern South Carolina tomorrow through the weekend.
