With some elective surgery already postponed, Deputy Premier Steven Miles believes the hospitals can cope with the unprecedented number of COVID admissions.
Queensland has surpassed 1000 hospitalisations of COVID-19 patients, as authorities call on people to take precautions to avoid further infections and extra pressure on the health system.
At the peak of the first wave in late January, 928 people were in Queensland hospitals with the virus. “We would of course, urge anyone who’s sick to stay home and get tested and even if they’re negative, if they’re still sick, they should still stay home and have a mask with you at all times.”Miles said people should make decisions in the best interests of their health and the health of those around them.
“That was what we always said that those measures were there to protect people until they had a choice to get a vaccine.
