That fire spat flames through the roof of the Rodeway Inn at 631 Eisenhowever Boulevard and bellowed smoke throughout the building at around 9:40 p.m. Friday night. A cause of the fire hasn’t been released. Officials said Friday night that the investigation was just starting.
Fire crews and police assisted in evacuating people from the building, including a few that required smoke inhalation treatment at the scene, according to Swatara fire Chief Mike Ibberson Friday night. One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, Ibberson said. Members of the Disaster Action Team responded to the scene at around 10 p.m., according to Red Cross spokesperson Nicole Roschella.
Volunteers provided resources for immediate assistance to 23 individuals after a hotel fire in the 600 block of Eisenhower Blvd., Harrisburg, Dauphin County.
