The speedometer in the vehicles is missing a unit of measurement - mph or km/h.
is recalling some 2018-2022 Model 3 Performance vehicles because the speedometer may fail to display the unit of speed when the vehicle is in track mode.
A vehicle traveling 55 mph is traveling 88 in km/h but the driver will only see the number, not the unit of measurement. Tesla said 48,184 vehicles are affected by the recall., track mode “is designed to increase vehicle driving performance on closed circuit courses, the user interface on affected vehicles displays vehicle speed but not a unit of speed .”
Because of that issue, the risk of a collision is increased but Tesla reported it is not aware of any crashes or injuries attributed to the defect. Letters notifying owners are expected to be mailed on June 6, 2022.
