More than half of Australians are expected to spend less on food for Christmas this year as cost-of-living pressures continue to strain household budgets.
New research revealed by The Salvation Army also found that people will be far less eager to spend money on presents for children and loved ones.
"At The Salvos, we see first-hand how much people are really struggling, particularly as we head into a busy Christmas season," he said. Research also found that nine per cent of Australians will seek assistance in the coming weeks, with about 55 percent of those reaching out doing so for the first time."It is a time that allows us to support people in their time of need, not just practically but also emotionally.
