Australian rental homes are colder and more damp than is considered safe by the World Health Organization. Tracking devices placed in Australian rental homes found that in four states they were routinely colder than the recommended 18C, with ACT beating Tasmania for the chilliest average temperature at just 7.5C.

The WHO considers 18C as a ‘safe and well-balanced indoor temperature to protect the health of general populations during cold seasons’ in temperate or colder climates.Doctors are “gatekeeping” conversations around affordable access to healthcare,. The comments come amid a surge of GPs limiting access to bulk billing or scrapping it altogether.
