Prime Minister Scott Morrison secured an exemption to travel to Sydney on a taxpayer-funded flight for Father's Day before returning days later to Canberra for a meeting.
His office confirmed Mr Morrison flew on a taxpayer-funded flight to the Harbour City on Friday afternoon to celebrate with his family before returning on Monday morning.
Mr Morrison is believed to have been issued a Level 3 stay-at-home health order which meant he needs to be regularly tested and restrict his movements within the territory. reported the Prime Minister was looking to relocate back to Sydney permanently to be with his family after spending the last seven weeks in Canberra.
The ACT has been locked down since August 12 after the highly contagious Delta strain was brought into the country's capital. “Exemptions will be granted to ACT residents once there has been verification of identity and residency in the ACT. Non-ACT residents will require an approved exemption from ACT Health prior to arriving in the ACT and will also enter quarantine for 14 days.”
In June, while in the UK for the G7 summit, he took a side trip to explore his family's convict roots but he denied it was an act of double standards as Aussies were warned against travelling to Britain as COVID-19 cases soared and international borders were closed. Mr Morrison has face similar criticism in the past. He was snapped on a secret holiday in Hawaii while Australians were dealing with the 2019 bushfire disaster. Picture: Twitter/@paso81
