Morrison gives 10-day ultimatum to NSW Liberals or face federal takeover | michaelkoziol
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has taken the first move to dissolving the Liberal Party’s troubled NSW division, with the party’s federal executive voting to give state officials 10 days to “rectify” their issues and endorse sitting MPs or face a federal takeover.
Some NSW Liberals have complained the preselection process was actually stalled by Mr Morrison and his representative on state executive, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke, in order to justify the federal intervention that is now underway. Earlier on Thursday, NSW party officials voted 18-4 to ask the federal executive to reappoint them “out of an abundance of caution” until a meeting of delegates could be held in late March.
Earlier on Thursday, members of the NSW division’s Right faction warned they would seek to challenge any federal intervention in court.
