Sky News host Peta Credlin says the reality of the 'cheap money” the Morrison government had to borrow is beginning to “bite us as a country”.

Sky News host Peta Credlin says the reality of the “cheap money” the Morrison government had to borrow is beginning to “bite us as a country”.

“Today the Treasurer let it be known we’re set to pay around $100 billion in interest alone – over the next four years – on the money Australia has borrowed in recent times,” she said.“It’s dead money. It doesn’t pay off the principal, and its money that could have been better spent building hospitals, helping pensioners, fixing roads and more.”

Ms Credlin said this announcement is against the backdrop of “real budget concern” after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese “backflipped on his earlier position that the COVID cash would end”.“Now it’s madness to me that as the rest of the world continues to open up, to live with this virus, here in Australia, we’re going backwards,” she said.
