Former prime minister Scott Morrison’s secret ministerial appointments are “likely to be legal”, says UNSW constitutional law expert Professor George Williams.

Professor Williams said Section 64 of the Constitution states the Governor-General must appoint ministers and he has already made a statement indicating that happened.

“Here it’s unlikely there’s been a legal breach, we will need to know more for sure,” he told Sky News Australia. “It’s more likely questions will arise about is this wise, was it sensible and why were we not told?”
