Scott Morrison used a Liberal Party campaign rally on Saturday to again attack Anthony Albanese over border protection, accusing him of 'trying to recreate a bit of history'.
Mr Morrison accused Mr Albanese of"trying to recreate a bit of history", as he delivered an address to a Liberal Party campaign rally on the New South Wales Central Coast on Saturday.
"Going back prior to the 2013 election, I turned to Jim as the then shadow immigration minister because we were going through as a country at that time, the worst border protection failures this country had ever seen. Mr Morrison had traded barbs with Mr Albanese at the People's Forum over border security, with the Prime Minister grilling the Labor leader over boat arrivals in Australia under his watch as deputy prime minister in 2013.
"I'm sorry we were, it was our policy, turn backs were our policy before the 2013 election. I was the shadow immigration minister I designed the policy," Mr Morrison said. "See prior to that election , we worked hard on our plans in national security, we worked hard on our plans on border security. Mr Albanese this week refused to answer questions on how many boats he turned back when last in government during a heated press conference.
