has accused his predecessor of "an extraordinary and unprecedented trashing of our democracy", following revelations he secretly swore himself into several ministerial roles.
"I am seeking further advice as to the use of these extraordinary powers by Scott Morrison and other examples of it."He said Morrison's colleagues "sat back and watched power be centralised within the Morrison government". Karen Andrews was the official Home Affairs Minister, though Morrison had also been sworn into the role.Greg Hunt served as Health Minister and Josh Frydenberg served as Treasurer.
After the revelation Morrison had sworn himself into the portfolio on May 6, 2021, she called on him to quit.Shadow Minister for Home Affairs Karen Andrews has called for Morrison to quit Parliament.Sydney Morning Herald"I did not know. Governor-General responds to reports Morrison took on extra portfoliosThe Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General has released a statement addressing the reports former prime minister Scott Morrison secretly swore himself into three ministerial positions while in government. “The Governor-General, following normal process and acting on the advice of the government of the day, appointed former Prime Minister Morrison to administer portfolios other than the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,” the statement read. “The appointments were made consistently with section 64 of the Constitution. “It is not uncommon for Ministers to be appointed to administer departments other than their portfolio responsibility. These appointments do not require a swearing-in ceremony – the Governor-General signs an administrative instrument on the advice of the Prime Minister. “Questions around appointments of this nature are a matter for the government of the day and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
