In his decade-long career with the Roosters and Panthers, and then St Helens and Hull KR, Masoe was known for his brutal defence. The tackle in which he was injured seems, from replays, to be innocuous.
In a private hospital room in Wakefield in the north of England, former NRL forward Mose Masoe can't feel anything from the chest down but he's still smiling and cracking jokes.
“This is a career-ending injury,” Smith said. “If Mose is able to walk again, that will be a success. I don’t want to paint a picture that everything is going to be fine and he’s going to be back doing things he used to do. It’s going to be a long old haul for Mose.”The silver lining is the way Masoe can still flex his feet, knees and quadriceps, if ever so slightly, with his pregnant wife Carissa by his side encouraging him.
In his decade-long career with the Roosters and Panthers, and then St Helens and Hull KR, Masoe had a penchant for snapping opposition players in half with his brutal defence. The tackle in which he was injured seems, from replays, to be innocuous. Hull KR and former Roosters teammate Shaun Kenny-Dowall was on the field when the incident happened and has been visiting Masoe regularly.Herald. "
Masoe has two young daughters, a son in Australia, and another child on the way. The Rugby Football League has provided assistance to fly members of his family over from Sydney, but his parents will stay behind because his father is undergoing cancer treatment.
