NRL: The NRL 360 panel believe that Latrell Mitchell needs to prove himself as one of the best during State of Origin Game 2.
Halfback Mitchell Moses was everywhere in the first half, contributing three try assists - two from kicks - kicking for 210 metres and forcing a Tom Dearden knock-on with a strong defensive play .
Moses’ kicking game was particularly impressing, with Blues great Andrew Johns praising the Eels halfback’s work for Brian To’o’s second try of the night.“Mitchell Moses looks up and he sprints from the right-hand side of the ruck to the left-hand side. He saw, looked up and saw Reece Wallsh, which he’s over on the left side. Brings the defence. Gets it in behind,” Johns said.
The South Sydney fullback’s first half dominance could be summarised by the fact his opposite number, Valentine Holmes, missed six tackles in the first halfFormer Blues coach Phil Gould praised all of the Blues for their first half performances, but gave particular focus to the record-breaking half to the side’s halves, including Moses.
“It all comes on the back of halves. The No.7 and the No.6. Their leadership and their confidence, their direction and their delivery, their kicking game has just driven Queensland mad,” Gould said at half-time. “Everyone else in a blue Jersey has to run hard. They’re putting you in the right place and running at the right hold.“Mitchell Moses, absolutely stellar. He’s come of age on the representative scene here this evening. He’s run the whole show.
