The mother of drilling contractor Peter Groves, who died in a remote workplace incident last week, says her son was the light in the family.

"He gave the biggest, best hugs. That's the thing about him, he didn't hold back on giving you a hug," she said. He was a passenger in a car crash on an unsealed road near Kookynie in July 2019 that claimed the life of 22-year-old Gareth Laurent. "Peter spoke to his parents and that family just welcomed Peter into their life and treated him like a son and a brother."Ms Sugar said she felt for her son's colleagues who were grieving again.
