A number of performances due to take place at Motherwell Concert Hall and Theatre have been cancelled after the building's roof was found to have reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC).
A Lanarkshire concert hall and theatre has been forced to close after its roof was found to contain potentially hazardous concrete.
A performance from Shine Youth Music Theatre was immediately cancelled with other performances over the next few weeks expected to be hit, reports Lanarkshire Live.A tweet from Motherwell Theatre last night stated: "Tonight's performance of Grease the Musical has been cancelled due to operational issues at the venue. Ticketholders have been contacted directly."
"The inspection also found some evidence of water ingress to the roof. These findings mean that a full intrusive survey must be carried out. RAAC is a material that was used in some buildings constructed between the mid-1950s and mid-1990s and its presence has led to more than 100 complete or partial school closures in England.
