Three motorcyclists collided at the scene of a minor truck crash, resulting in the death of one rider.
A minor accident involving a single truck took a tragic turn when three motorcyclists arriving at the scene collided in a sequence, resulting in the death of one rider. Emergency responders were dispatched to the Mitchell Highway in Larras Lee, approximately 50 kilometers north of the NSW central west town of Orange, shortly before 8:30 am on Saturday following reports of a single-vehicle truck crash. The truck driver sustained minor injuries.
However, two hours later, while police were stationed at the scene awaiting the truck's tow, a devastating incident occurred. Around 11:00 am, a motorcyclist riding nearby collided with another motorcyclist traveling ahead, causing the first rider to fall from his bike. A third motorcyclist following the two then collided with the downed rider. Officers at the scene immediately rushed to aid the injured rider, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. While his identity has yet to be formally confirmed, he is believed to be in his 40s. The third rider, a 69-year-old man, received treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics and was transported to Westmead Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The first rider, a 66-year-old man, was taken to Dubbo Hospital for mandatory testing. 'A crime scene has been established with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attending to examine the scene,' stated NSW Police. 'A critical incident investigation team from Chifley Police District will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.' The investigation is also undergoing an independent review
