The Cascade passes and Olympic Mountains should receive the first significant accumulating snowfall today through Wednesday.
In the Cascades, snow will pick up Tuesday afternoon at Mount Baker and Stevens Pass, while Snoqualmie Pass could see an onset of snow a little more toward sunset, though the exact timing of the onset of mountain snow could vary several hours by region.By tonight, expect snow to be really ramping up at Stevens and Snoqualmie passes, tapering off by the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Snoqualmie will see roughly 5 inches, Stevens should be closer to 6 to 12 inches and higher up above 4,000 feet could be 1 to 2 feet.By Tuesday afternoon, rain increases in the lowlands, and the afternoon and evening commute is likely to be very soggy and breezy in spots, especially up north. With more leaves on the ground, storm drains could become clogged and urban and street flooding will be a hazard. This will continue through Tuesday evening subsiding Tuesday night.
Highs will only be in the 40s from Thursday through Sunday with morning lows progressively getting colder under mainly clear skies. More locations will have their first freezes of the fall on Friday, and then again on Saturday morning. The coldest start is likely to be Sunday morning with even the urban areas like Seattle very close to freezing. Some fog and freezing fog will be possible in spots as well each morning.
