government is now urging people to get out and about, just days after saying people should limit their movements for the next six weeks amid the Omicron surge.
Health Minister Yvette D'Ath said yesterday that the chief subject of that recommendation were the unvaccinated and vulnerable. Other Queenslanders are urged to behave sensibly, wear a mask and social distance where possible, but are not requested to limit their movements. It comes as businesses continue to struggle with worker shortages, which will be top of the agenda at today's National Cabinet meeting.
Increased movement would be a boost for businesses that have fought hard to stay above water during the pandemic and the most recent outbreak. Ms D'Ath said yesterday a lack of rapid antigen tests was also affecting businesses, with workers forced into isolation. She urged the Commonwealth to do whatever it could to get more tests into Queenslanders' hands.Queensland recorded 22,069 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, with just two LGAs in the entire state remaining free of the virus since borders reopened on December 13.
