When it comes to property, drag queen Art Simone says “the tackier, the better” — as long as she has room for her endless supply of wigs and costumes.
The drag queen first moved out of home to a tiny apartment, where her wigs and costumes spilt out into the living room.I first moved out of my parents house in Mooroolbark into an apartment by myself on Inkerman St in St Kilda, just above an Aldi.
I jumped around a few times since then and two years ago bought my first place out in North Geelong with my best friend. While it’s not in Melbourne, working in entertainment I like to distance myself when I get home, close the door and get out of all the glitter and the glitz for a little bit. But my favourite thing is from the balcony you can see the Sphinx Hotel, which has a giant sphinx sculpture at the front — it’s the tackiest thing in the world but I love it so much. The star came in second place in RuPaul’s debut Drag Race Down Under series.I don’t picture any type of space in general, but my dream is to have a few little places around Australia.
