Under a new code of conduct implemented by the Albanese government all politicians and their staff will undergo anti-bullying and harassment training.

The mandatory training was at the top of the agenda at next week’s meeting of the bipartisan Parliamentary Leadership Taskforce, government sources confirmed to The Australian.

The face-to-face training was a key recommendation in the Foster Report, as well as a public register that allowed voters to search whether their local member had undertaken the session. Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the training sessions would be mandatory for ministers and their staff. Some MPs have outright chosen not to participate in the training, including One Nation leader Pauline Hanson who said in January that she was “too old to sexually harass anyone.”
