BREAKING: Multiple children have been ‘seriously injured’ after falling 10 metres from a jumping castle that wind had lifted into the air.
Several primary school children have been seriously injured after wind lifted a jumping castle into the air in the Tasmanian city of Devonport on Thursday morning.“Police and emergency services are responding to a serious incident at Hillcrest Primary School in Devonport, after a wind event caused a jumping castle to lift into the air.
“Several children fell from a height of about 10 metres around 10am and are currently receiving medical treatment at the scene. Some serious injuries have occurred.It is the final day of school for the year for most Tasmanian school children.“There has been an accident onsite at our school,” a post on the Hillcrest Primary School Community Facebook page reads.
“We are closing the school for the rest of the day. We ask that parents come to collect their children as a matter of urgency.”On social media, Tasmania’s Department of Health described it as a “major incident”.“Multiple ambulance vehicles are in attendance and heading to the scene. If you are going to be on the roads in the north west, please ensure you give way to emergency vehicles.”
Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein said he was waiting for more information, but was thinking of the children, parents and emergency services involved.
