'Every time I look in the mirror I look at the scar and I am reminded of the day I was nearly killed'

A teenager has been jailed after slashing a college student in the neck before making ‘slit throat’ gestures.

Taylor had been to Wilkos and bought a Stanley knife, and was seen on CCTV taking it out of the package minutes before. As he walked past the group, one of the girls moved back and bumped into him, resulting in a row. Taylor left the scene but stayed in the area, and was seen to be making ‘slit throat’ gestures to people in the vicinity, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

In a statement, he said the incident had affected his confidence and mental health, as a result of which he had to take six weeks off work and college.
