Mum completely transforms her stairs on a budget thanks to Ikea and B&Q - and it looks incredible
A THIRFTY mum-of-three transformed her staircase on a budget by shopping at Ikea, The Range and in the B&Q sale – saving herself £1,000.
Sarah Lindsey, 37, wanted to revamp the staircase in her cottage, but rather than getting decorators in she decided to do it herself.Sarah, who lives in Perthshire, Scotland, with her partner Conor and three kids Niamh, 11, Skye, 6, and Toren, 15 months, was initially going to get some carpet fitters in.
But after finding out the prices, the heart physiologist reckoned she could do a better job herself – on a budget.: “Our idea to take on home renovation for ourselves started because we didn't have huge amounts of money, so we couldn't afford to pay other people to do the work.” She scrolled through Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration, before heading to Ikea and The Range, as well as taking advantage of the B&Q sale.She bought white paint for £4 at B&Q, four lanterns at £2.50 each from Ikea, and four Sheridan rugs for £14.99 each from The Range.Sarah designed her dream staircase and finished it in a few days – but thinks she could have completed it in 24 hours if she didn't have to look after the kids.
