'Beautiful' Macie Jayne Vella took her own life after being targeted by bullies
A Lancashire mum has urged young adults to reach out if they need help after her daughter took her own life.
On the evening of July 26 the alarm was raised after Macie failed to answer the phone to her partner. When police forced entry into the house they found she had tragically taken her own life. "As a family we are really close," Linda, 40, said. "I can talk about it now but there were so many times when I just wanted to be with her. I gave myself a shake and realised that our family has been through enough."
"It was only when the police looked into Macie's death that we found out she was being bullied quite badly," Linda said. "They made her life a living hell." The marathon was attended by approximately 150 participants and many more volunteers and supporters and has raised £7,475 to date, bringing the total raised in Macie’s memory to almost £25,000.
"As part of this grieving process, as a family we felt that it is a priority to keep Macie’s memory alive and to raise awareness in her honour. Our objective is to educate people on the danger and impact that their words and actions can have on an individual and the families that are left behind."Support services for young people Anyone aged 19 or under can get help from Childline.
