Amy thought that her “chaotic” thoughts were down to postnatal anxiety. She says the ADHD diagnosis has helped her understand why she sometimes finds it difficult to give her son the attention he deserves.
a few months later. She said: “My thoughts were so chaotic, my mind would not rest. It was so noisy in my head – it used to confuse me so much when my partner could just sit there and watch television without worrying or thinking about a million other things.”
Looking back, Amy feels it explains a lot of her behaviours and thoughts. “I always knew I was different, but I didn’t know how much I thought differently and saw the world differently from others,” she said. “I just thought that everybody was like this.”Mum who dedicated life to caring for disabled son enjoys first holiday with partner in 30 years
She said: “After my diagnosis, my boss asked me if I wanted to leave my job, which I did. Having my ADHD diagnosis gave me permission to stop being so hard on myself.”
