A mum has revealed doctors dismissed her worrying symptoms as “tiredness from having a baby” – until it turned out to be a rare cancer. 7NEWS

Louise MacLeod, 44, was told by her GP that her constant fatigue was a result of having recently welcomed her second child, daughter Nell, now 12, in 2010.

Her symptoms were dismissed as laryngitis and other simple common side effects resulting from childbirth, and she was told to rest.Over the following months, more lumps appeared and her health continued to deteriorate.Hodgkin lymphoma “It was really overwhelming, especially as I had a young family to look after,” Louise told NeedToKnow.online.“The delay in being correctly diagnosed could’ve easily cost me my life.”Nonetheless, she was relieved to finally have a diagnosis.“I also had a 20-month-old toddler and a five-year-old who’d just started school at the time and couldn’t bear to think about not being here for them, along with the worries of what treatment would entail.

“I’m so lucky that my amazing brother was a willing match,” Louise said, adding that the care and support from her family, friends and the hospital team was incredible.
