Netball: In a devastating blow for the Melbourne Mavericks on the eve of their inaugural Super Netball season, Lauren Moore has been ruled out for the rest of the year after ACL tear.
DEVASTATING injury blow ahead of season | 00:34Firebirds star Hulita Veve has revealed just how close she came to giving netball away after years of waiting in the wings, but she’s now “living the dream” in her first full season since becoming a mum.
But it’s been a long journey back to the top level for the 28-year-old, who finished the 2016 ANZ Championship season a Firebirds premiership player – while pregnant with her first son. “The last two years I’ve tossed and turned if I was going to do training partner because I was getting older and I did want to spend more time with the kids and it was hard to juggle working, being a mum and a wife and playing netball,” she said.“It’s even more special to be doing this as a mum.
Veve revealed she broke down in tears when she earned a full-time contract, knowing her commitment to the game had paid off.“It did take a long time for me to get this spot – I was just really proud of myself. “I did almost give up twice … If I think back now and I had to give up, I wouldn’t have what I have now.”
