Caroll Hopkinson, charged with murder for killing her husband Simon in an act of self-defense while he attempted suicide, has had the charges dismissed in Adelaide Magistrates Court.
A murder charge has been withdrawn against Caroll Hopkinson , who was accused of killing her husband in Taperoo in July.
The 58-year-old attended the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where the charge of murder was formerly dropped by a police prosecutor.Defence lawyer Jeff Powell had previously told the court that the circumstances of the alleged offending were "tragic" and "unusual". Mr Powell said Ms Hopkinson woke on the morning of July 7 this year to discover her husband attempting to take his own life and she tried to intervene.
The court previously heard 58-year-old Caroll Hopkinson killed her husband in self-defence when he turned on her as she tried to stop him from self-harming."She understood his reaction, it was to this extent: 'Why are you stopping me from something that I need to ' — that is how she interpreted his reaction," he said.
