Larger text size Very large text size The 2011 killing of crime figure Saso Ristevski remains unsolved, after a murder charge against a Victorian man was dropped in the NSW Supreme Court this month. Ristevski was assaulted and shot dead in 2011, when he was attacked by three men, who apparently intended to rob him, at his parents' home in Lake Heights, Wollongong. The gun used in the shooting was later found in Victoria. Drug trafficker Saso Ristevski was executed while on parole in 2011.
Until they catch the suspected gunman, it is understood police will be unable to confirm if Ristevski's death was the result of a botched robbery or whether it was a targeted hit disguised as a robbery. Loading The death is being investigated by Strike Force Calligan, which was established by the NSW homicide squad, with assistance from detectives in the Lake Illawarra and Wollongong districts, to investigate a number of crimes in the Illawarra region.
