The Perth man who murdered two innocent women inside their suburban home on Friday was a licensed gun owner with 13 firearms, it has been revealed.

Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Sabine Winton said Bombara was a “gutless” man, and addressed WA Police’s decision to classify the act as a double-murder-suicide, rather than domestic violence. WA Police Detective Inspector David Gorton on Saturday confirmed Bombara was known to police, but had no history of violence.“He was a licensed firearm holder in Western Australia … he was the owner of the firearms that were used,” he said.WA’s gun legislation is already being debated in parliament, with proposed new reforms to make the state’s laws the toughest in the country; however, Premier Roger Cook has now asked the state’s police commissioner for a further review.

“To understand what more can we do to equip the police to be able to support people in these situations.”
