The legislature isn't doing the people's business. Rather, it feels as if it's meddling in something that should be none of our business.

What’s painfully obvious is the yet-to-be-explored, ominous-sounding Parents’ Bill of Rights Act is not as it’s described. A dire threat to parents’ “right” to be involved in their children’s schooling? Where is the violation of rights?So far, no Saskatchewan Party government MLA, nor anyone anyone else, has produced one single parent who was kept in the dark about a child’s pronouns or name preference used in the classroom.

That, in itself, would seem to fit both the legal definition of bad faith and the more existentialist philosophical one .Hiring more doctors and nurses? Providing much-needed provincial sales tax breaks for ordinary folks being hammered by inflation? Or how about aRight now, the legislature isn’t doing the people’s business.

Instead, Government House leader Jeremy Harrison is about to ram through a government majority motion calling for “doubling” of the normal bill scrutiny time — an offer as disingenuous as it is more bad faith.Good faith would have seen the Sask. Party government doing what the legislature jointly agreed to two decades ago, when the house leaders hammered out a legislative calendar deal in which bills would be introduced in the fall sitting and debated and passed in the following spring sitting.
